Brown Bag Ministry
Brown bag ministry is an effort of several local churches to feed children in the Norton/Wise area during the summer months when there is no school. Many children in our community receive free or reduced lunch during the school year and once the year has ended-the lunches end also. Brown Bag Ministry wants to provide a daily free lunch to as many children as possible. During 2011, we delivered from 100-180 lunches per day-ending with a total of 5310 lunches delivered for the summer.
The response to this ministry has been overwhelming and truly a blessing, not only to the children that were fed but, to all the churches that participate as well. Every church works together to make this possible. Each church that participates in this outreach takes a turn in packing and delivering to designated areas forlunch pick up.
